My first prenatal apointment - What a day!

Today went by in a blur. First the appointment.

The appointment went pretty well. Dr B tried to find the heartbeat but couldn't. He said not to worry, it's probably just too early. With the nausea I've been experiencing he said it sounded like my baby was growing fine. I asked about an ultrasound but they don't do one until you are about 19weeks. 19weeks! Aaaaaah! I think we are going to start telling people. I could wait until after my next appointment (Sept 30th) where I'll be 12.5 weeks along but I really don't think I can keep it hidden any longer.

Now the house......oy vey. We had our final walk-thru this morning. We were supposed to close tomorrow morning. Yes...."supposed" to. The sellers didn't clean up the trash and debris that is in the backyard. While looking through it Jim noticed a 55gallon drum filled with oil. The problem is there appears to be some spillage into the soil. With Jim's background in soil and water conservation this sent up red flags to him. We are having the water tested for petroleum/oil contamination before we close. If the test comes back okay than we will schedule another closing date. If the test does not come back okay, well....I don't want to think about that. We just didn't want to get ourselves in to a house where the water was contaminated with oil.
